I’ve been thinking a lot about my relationship to things I have no control over, and how that’s influenced my being at different stages of my life. I have a plethora of books, objects, and miscellaneous scraps I hold on to *just incase* I may use them.
When making in this nature, I revisit my inventory, some items have been here for years, others only a few months, and each time I peruse through, I find something new. I like to let my brain and blade wander as I cut out various pieces, unaware of a budding theme or relationship until I feel content with the process of looking. Once I assess what I’ve pulled, that’s where the relationship building begins.
I enjoy how we notice different things about the same thing at different times, it’s a good indicator that we’re learning, even if only a little.
